On August 22, 2016, at approximately 10:38 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a fatality crash on US 91 near Bowman Rd. Jason McKinney, 42, of Shelley was driving northbound on US91 near milepost 40, in a Volkswagen passenger car. McKinney drove over the fogline on the right shoulder, overcorrected, then came back onto the road, across the lanes of travel, and left the roadway on the left side, where his vehicle overturned. McKinney was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
